EDON Place’s - Women’s Health and Wellbeing Support Service provides tailored and holistic support for women and young women affected by sexual violence and domestic and/or family violence in the Bundaberg area.
The following outcomes is the focus of this program:
Improve recovery and quality of life for survivors of sexual violence
Improve health and wellbeing and increased social connectedness
Increase access to information and support, including when experiencing an unplanned pregnancy
Increase economic independence and financial security
Increased feelings of safety from sexual violence and other forms of gender-based violence
Increased personal power and reduced risk of re-traumatisation for survivors of gender-based violence
Increased understanding of the impacts of trauma associated with sexual violence and other forms of gender-based violence
Increased public awareness about sexual violence including available support services; and
Increased public awareness about gender-based health, social and wellness issues.
EDON Place provides the provision of trauma-informed counselling, case management and capacity-building support to meet the ongoing needs of women and young women who require assistance to achieve better health and wellbeing. This includes intake and needs assessment (including ongoing safety planning and risk assessment) and case planning to meet the women’s and young women’s support needs. The program sees staff and clients working in close collaboration to identify hopes and strengths and develop capability to achieve goals, across physical and mental health, housing, employment, education, and financial security needs.
TRAUMA-INFORMED COUSELLING Understanding that experiences of violence can result in ongoing trauma, EDON Place Women’s Health and Wellbeing counselling service operates from a trauma-informed approach to minimise re-traumatisation and promote healing and recovery.
INDIVIDUAL CASE MANAGEMENT Key to case management is working with women to identify strengths and collaboratively develop individual wellbeing goals and plans, while also helping to connect women with relevant local services based on their needs.
CAPACITY-BUILDING An evidence-based women’s group program, Safe Horizons takes a holistic approach to wellbeing and supports women and young women to identify stresses and vulnerabilities, as well as strategies to promote self-efficacy, resilience, and wellbeing.

SAFE HORIZONS - WOMEN'S GROUP PROGRAM The aim of the group is to assist women to address the impact of sexual violence and domestic and/or family violence and to:
Provide a supportive and safe environment for women to share their experiences.
Provide opportunities for women to gain strength and understanding through shared experiences.
Meet other women and help break down social isolation associated with living with domestic violence.
Provide education and information about sexual, domestic and/or family violence.
